Monique Lhuillier is still feeling the transparency trend. The designer’s pre-fall ’16 collection continues her lucite heel focus from spring, introducing it in new fall silhouettes like a suede ankle bootie.
Clear lucite heels had a slight ombre treatment and were added onto leather and suede boots, as well as ankle-strap sandals. When done as a wedge heel, the look had higher impact and differentiated itself from the Christian Dior styles from fall ’15.

New styles included a fur-trimmed platform sandal, block-heel sandals with embellishment, and jewel-encrusted mules. Keeping her feminine aesthetic in mind, Lhuillier does a good job of referencing her customer needs while keeping inspirations intact. “I am always inspired by color,” the designer told us in August.
Though Lhuillier’s shoes mark a strong tie-in to her quirky womenswear, it would be refreshing to see something more unique in future collections. The footwear is surely on-trend but needs a standout style or signature shape—lace booties, for example, bare too much of a strong resemblance to an Aquazzura or Gianvito Rossi.
