Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2016 Women’s Shoe Collection
Oscar de la Renta’s shoe collection has maintained a new, strong DNA since footwear lead Daniel Lawler came on board. And for pre-fall, the footwear offering is significantly larger than in previous seasons.
Keeping its elegant and refined customer in mind, the house’s pre-fall shoes offered a wide range of feminine styles, from satin oxfords with ribbon laces to mesh pumps with beaded embellishments. Its signature embroidered mules were kept in the collection, but Lawler also introduced a new slide sandal with an elegantly pleated upper.
Evening styles include a crisscross mule stiletto and ponyhair pumps with a bow detail done in patent and suede. For the not-so-girly-girl, the collection also offers velvet smoking slippers and below-the-knee boots.
While it’s a cohesive collection, a few of the shoes felt off, considering the season. Styles like a jewel-encrusted flat sandal may be more appropriate for spring. The same goes for the Oscar de la Renta take on an espadrille, though it was a nice followup to its spring ’16 runway shoes.
